GROUPS
Groups for issues you care about
You never know what issue or cause will interest you. Whether you search by keyword, browse the categories, get invited by a friend, or create your own, unitedmuslims.org groups are virtual meeting places organized by topic. Use the message board to share information with others, meet like-minded users, and more. Bookmark groups and share them with others as well.

But unlike the social networking sites that you might be a member of, there's a real purpose with these groups. It's community with a cause. And online project tools help turn your group discussions into real-world action.

Use groups to make a difference
From within each group, members can create projects to put some of the ideas you might be talking about into action. Create a real-world meeting in your neighborhood. Launch an online advocacy campaign. Solicit donations for your favorite causes. (And even more coming soon.) Group members will vote for projects via their membership, with the most popular ones rising to the top - regardless of who started it or how connected they might be.

It's the democratization of activism - made by Muslims for everybody, and available only at unitedmuslims.org.

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH GROUPS?
Promote your cause
Got an issue you want to tell the world about? Is no one else taking up the banner? Create your own group around it. Get others to join you, either by inviting those you know to join, or having our system invite like-minded people, based on their volunteer profiles, to join via invitation.
Share information
Groups are a great way to create niche communities aggregated around a cause. Sure, it's easy to find Muslims working on foreign policy issues, but what about Muslims concerned with breast cancer research? Educational policy? And even a local city council election? Bring volunteers together online, with unitedmuslims.org groups.
Start projects together
Groups can sponsor any number of projects, as created by their members, that put discussion into action. The best projects get the most volunteers, as site members vote with their clicks. And groups with several successful projects will attract even more members.
